Warrior Mama
Is there anyone who isn’t feeling a restless pull to save the world right now? Anyone googling “Vigilante Training”? I don’t even watch the news, but you can’t escape humanity’s dark pillidge history on earth sludging it’s way to the surface by way of climate and humanitarian crises. It’s everywhere, and it’s gonna take a world wide collective of soldiers stepping up and taking action for a future of peace and balance. Action is a loaded word, though.
The energy of feminine guidance should always precede the masculine energy of action. Our world is dangerously off balance, because those in power are guided by ego versus intuition. Ego uses the reflection of our fears to guide us towards the assurance of a false sense of safety that can only be obtained by attacking someone or something in opposition. There is no sense of connectedness. No consideration of the highest good. Only with division can you have enemies and wars. Power, greed, corruption are all manifestations of ego. Of masculinity without feminine to balance. Toxic masculinity is simply the absence of femininity.
My own masculinity is screaming to take action against a multitude of injustices. I am a frontline warrior by nature, and there are times I feel my passion for activism almost tearing through my chest because it feels stifled and limited by my role as a mother. I’ve realized, though, raising this next generation, actively parenting with intention, actually is a frontline responsibility.
As I connect more with my feminie energy, I’m heading the guidance I receive to focus on nurturing balance into my children. Millenials are the bridge, but our children are the ones who will make the new world. We were raised lopsided, but we were also gifted a vision of the possibilities that exist on the other side rocking the world right side up again. Past generations were largely focused on surviving all the oppressions of patriarchy. They’re sacrifice gave us room to live with a level of freedom that allowed us to question the status quo. We understand the old and clearly see the direction for the new. Raising children in love and respect is the change.
There are angels who spend days, and months on end withstanding harsh conditions, and retaliation to participate in protests to protect our water. There are brave warriors fighting fires and leading rescue missions in the aftermath of increasingly frequent Earth upsets. There are activists and leaders who sacrifice their own freedom, safety, and sometimes their lives to stand up and demand change. There are so many animal heroes protecting countless species. There are whistle-blowers who put their families and livelihood on the line to expose the dark underbelly of humanity that has been hiding and thriving in the shadows. The wheel of change has a lot of spokes, all important in their roles. Mama’s, I need you to know, you are a warrior as well.
Make calls to politicians when you can. Attend rallies. Donate your time, energy, and money when and where you are able. As you enlighten yourself, enlighten others. You don’t have to confine yourself to one role, but please take pride in the one you already hold. Raising this next generation is a precious honor. We are raising children to be seen and heard. We are raising children who understand consent and feel empowered to uphold their own boundaries. We are raising children in a culture of diversity who will replace fear of differences with respect. We are raising children who embody love and compassion. We are raising children to value and protect the Earth and all she gives us. We are raising children to be kind. To be mindful. We are raising conscious children. In turn, we are raising the consciousness of the world.
There’s a lot of human gunk coming to the surface that needs to be acknowledged, atoned for, and released. Be aware of what’s going on, but I strongly suggest keeping a level of disconnect. It’s too easy to be consumed by where we are, and lose sight and faith in where we’re headed. Be present with your children. Love them fiercely and fill them to the brim with all things good, so they can spill it all out when it’s finally time to replace all that our generation is working hard to erase.
